Dear MUSD Families,

Social emotional skills have been shown to help students better cope with emotional stress, solve
problems, and avoid peer pressure to engage in harmful activities. These skills can help set our
students up for success throughout their school years and beyond. For this reason, growing our
students’ Social Emotional Learning (SEL) skills is an important goal for our school district. As part of this work, the Montebello Unified School District will survey students and ask them to reflect on their own mindsets and approaches to learning. The data we receive will help our educators identify opportunities for growth and development for our students.

The Panorama Social Emotional survey window will be November 8 – 19, 2021. The survey for
students in kindergarten through second grade is completed by the teachers during the school day. The survey for students in third grade through senior year is completed by students during the school day.

Our goal is to achieve 100% participation, however if you choose to not have your student
participate, please visit by Friday, November 12, 2021, at 12 noon where you will find a link to opt-out of the survey. If you wish for your student to participate in the survey, no further action is required.

Thank you.
